2010 EVENTS

 January 30; Legacy Salmon Creek Walk  Thank you, Earl Bowen!
An outstanding new route featuring neighborhoods and parks in the Salmon Creek and Mt. Vista neighborhoods north of the Legacy Salmon Creek hospital All Weather Walkers also hosted the Evergreen State Volkssport Association's quarterly meeting.

 August 22; Ridgefield Centennial Walk  Thank you, Leah Riedel & Jean Moeller!
The city of Ridgefield put on a terrific birthday celebration, and walkers saw new paths not volkswalked before.

Upscale neighborhoods, a forest trail, and the Columbia River viewpoint were highlights of this walk in growing East Vancouver.

Wonderful autumn color greeted us as we walked through Camas neighborhoods and on park paths.

 October 12 (Sunday); Lewisville Park Walk  Thank you, Earl Bowen!
This rural county park just north of Battle Ground was awash in glorious fall color, as usual this time of year. 

 July 27; Lacamas Lake Half-Marathon  Thank you, Liz Connors!
In coordination with Fit-Right Northwest, this was a scenic walk/run around Lacamas Lake in Camas.

 May 10; Moulton Falls Walk  Thank you, Dick Baker!
Nature showed its finest on easy paths along the East Fork of the Lewis River in rural north Clark County.

 February 23; Firstenburg Community Center Walk  Thank you, Jan B!
Loads of sunshine greeted 240 walkers on this easy, flat route through Evergreen Memorial Gardens, several parks and Fircrest neighborhoods.

2007 EVENTS

 November 26; Holiday Walk of Lights at PIR  Thank you, Liz Connors!
For the 8th time, we presented this popular annual event. Rainy weather didn't deter many walkers from enjoying some new holiday displays, uncovered from the PIR warehouse.

 September 1-2-3; Mt. St. Helens Weekend Walks   
Thank You, Dick Baker, Arlene Miller, and Jan Breneman
All Weather Walkers and Vancouver USA Volkssporters worked together to bring you 5 beautiful and unique hikes on Washington's most famous volcano. Registration was at Toutle High School, then walkers needed to drive to various Start Points on the mountain.

Spirit Lake; 12k, Rated 4; 6k, Rated 3

Silver Lake Visitors Center/Seaquest State Park; 5k, Rated 1+; 10k, Rated 2+

Coldwater Lake; 5k, Rated 2; 10k, Rated 3; with optional 3k addition Rated 4

Hummocks/Boundary Trail; 17k, Rated 4; 5k, Rated 2

 South Rim Hike/Climb , Rated 5. 

Friday, August 24 thru Sunday, September 9.

A special permit was required by the US Forest Service.

Hike to the crater rim for close-up views inside the constantly evolving volcano, and panoramic views of the Cascades.

We are celebrating All Weather Walkers' 15th anniversary as a club with a popular nature walk in Lacamas Park, the site of our very first volkswalk in 1992. Come join us!

 February 24; Firstenburg Walk   Thank you, Jan Breneman
After one full year, the Firstenburg Community Center celebrated great success in east Vancouver. This featured a great new route through area neighborhoods and parks.

2006 EVENTS

 November 27; Holiday Walk of Lights at PIR   Thank you, Liz Connors
Occurring just after Thanksgiving weekend, this annual event at Portland International Raceway has become a popular kick-off for the holidays.

 October 28; Cedar Creek Grist Mill Walk   Thank you, Liz Connors
We return to this quaint historic mill and its restored covered bridge outside of Woodland, Washington. Walk peaceful country roads and see an abundance of autumn color. AWW will also be hosting the ESVA state meeting in Woodland.

 

 April 1-2, 2006; Lewis & Clark Walk   Thank you, Jan Breneman
The Corps of Discovery camped on the banks of the Columbia near Washougal from March 31 to April 6, 1806. Literally walk in the footsteps of the Corps of Discovery on this weekend. Special history-related drawing prizes were held.

 March 25, YRE Open House   Thank you, Joan Heins!
The City of Ridgefield invited us to be part of its Heritage Day festivities. We featured our re-vamped "year 'round" route through the town neighborhoods and everyone loved seeing the new, beautifully done, Cathlapotle Plankhouse.

 February 25; Firstenburg Community Center Walk   Jan Breneman, Chairperson
This was held in conjunction with the new Firstenburg Community Center's open house activities. An easy route around Evergreen Airport and through parks and neighborhoods on Vancouver's east side. 

2005 EVENTS

 November 28, The Christie School Walk of Lights at PIR   Thank you, Liz Connors!
This was a true "All Weather Walkers" event. Many walkers braved the wind and rain to enjoy the Portland International Raceway's light displays.

 

 September 3-4-5, Washington Columbia Gorge Walks   Thank you, Dick Baker and Jan Breneman!
Vancouver  USA Volkssporters and All Weather Walkers partnered to bring another multi-event classic to the Columbia River gorge over Labor Day weekend. Four great walks were held all three days at Falls Creek Falls, Stevenson, North Bonneville, and Beacon Rock State Park.

 

 August 2, Fircrest Neighborhood Walk   Thank you, Jan Breneman!
A Tuesday evening walk through the Fircrest Neighborhood, timed to coincide with the annual Neighborhood National Night Out. Nature trail, groomed cemetery, new park paths, and tree-lined streets.

 

 May 21-22, Grass Valley   Thank you, Joe Titone and Jan Breneman
Building on our well-received event in 2004, we've added an extra day and a second walk. The "Flats" walk features Dryer Creek Greenway, Skyview MS track, and Grass Valley Park. The "Hills" walk features Prune Hill neighborhoods and trails, the greenway, and terrific views.

 

 April 3 (Sunday), Ellsworth Springs   Thank you, Earl Bowen
A new route just north of the Columbia River and west of I-205, featuring a new woodsy path, recently dedicated greenway trail, and established city neighborhoods.

 November 29, PIR Walk of Lights   Thank you, Liz Connors
The 5th annual Walk of Lights from the Portland International Raceway. Almost 500 walkers got an early start to the holiday spirit!

 

 August 14, Washougal Heritage Day  Thank you, Jan Breneman

This annual walk had another new route this year, with a woodsy park trail on the east edge of town and new neighborhoods next to the golf course.

 May 23, Grass Valley Walk   Thank you, Jan Breneman and Joe Titone

An easy, new walk route on the western edge of Camas, featuring Grass Valley Park, an overview of Lacamas Lake, and Skyridge Middle School. Lacamas Swim & Sport fitness club were more than generous in loaning their facility for our walk.

We walked around town, Abrams Park, and new neighborhoods as we took in various festivities for this annual community event.

2003 EVENTS

 December 1, PIR Walk of Lights   Thank you, Liz Connors

This is a Monday evening; the weather cleared just in time for this popular annual event at the Portland International Raceway. This is the only time of year that walkers are allowed on the track.

 October 25, Cedar Creek Grist Mill   Again -- Thank you, Joan Heins

We returned to this wonderful autumn getaway outside of Woodland, timed with the Friends of Cedar Creek's annual "Apple Press." A quintessential historic site with its classic covered bridge, wooded setting, and stone-ground grains. And if that weren't enough, plenty of sunshine and autumn colors made this a truly memorable day!

 September 5, Vancouver Sausage Fest   Thank you, Joan Heins

This was a Friday evening walk through the famous Vancouver Sausage Festival, with its delicious food, entertainment, and beer garten. A nice, flat trail for a late summer stroll.

 August 16, Washougal Heritage Day   Thank you, Jan Breneman

Featured Captain William Clark Park at Cottonwood Beach, where Lewis & Clark's Corps of Discovery camped for several days in 1806. Walk out and back on the Washougal Dike and see outstanding views of Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge, Mt. Hood, Columbia River, and Reed Island.  Event details here.

 June 20, WSU Campus    Thank you, Earl Bowen!

A summer evening walk on the north end of Vancouver beginning from  the Holiday Inn Express; trails on WSU campus paths and surrounding vicinity. An outdoor Community Backyard Concert series was held this evening, featuring Misty Creek's folk and Americana music.

 May 10, Orchards Walkabout    Thank you, Nancy Allen!

This was a Saturday-only walk starting from the Orchards YMCA at the corner of SR-500 and 112th Avenue. We saw a quaint, original feed store building and learned many little-known facts about Orchards history.
